Located just a walk away from the beach…

We visited Ms P and her new modern home conversion. The new property which is located within the grounds of her larger property, used to be a games room… but is now a private haven for relaxing, open-plan living.

A projects manager was brought in to oversee the work on her new property and suggested that she visit Island Bathrooms for help with her two new bathroom designs. Due to the nature of the conversion, having a projects manager oversee all of the work allowed Ms P to be stress-free. It also allowed her to continue with daily life while the work was carried out on her new home. She explained that ‘when you don’t have to be around to oversee the work, you’re less likely to overthink what’s being done’ (when you’re already unsure of the technical details you tend to over-worry about things you may not understand.) Having a projects manager who already knew the designs of each room and what she specifically wanted, really helped with the overall process.

Our designer Kim was brought in to help design one ground floor bathroom and one upstairs bathroom. Both unique in style for a unique user experience. The ground floor bathroom is designed for a quick, straight from the beach wash. While the first floor bathroom is designed to relax in with a large bath. Ideal for evenings spent soaking in the tub underneath the stars. Having the option to use a separate shower and bath is now very common in modern homes. Instead of a traditional bath shower enclosure set-up (for all and every unnecessary need) bathroom designers suggest more focused designs which suit the needs of the homeowner and their personal, everyday routine.

The downstairs shower room (ideal for the summertime) combines toilet, sink and vanity unit for an uncomplicated spacious feel. The combined vanity unit saves space, offering extra space for a larger shower. The shower design includes a no-fuss shower tray with one wetroom panel and one sliding door panel. This creates an open space which isn’t an eye-saw, unlike a traditional bath shower enclosure. It also offers the user free movement in and out of the shower, for easy access. Warm colours and bright colours are used to enhance the light and feel of the room. While a large and bright illuminated mirror offers extra lighting to enhance the small space. Having a shower room downstairs is ideal for a home situated within walking distance from the beach. As it takes away the fuss and mess of having to walk upstairs with sandy feet. Offering instead the option for a quick no-fuss, quick rinse!
