From traditional to modern — a needed update for a possible move
What was your initial need for a new bathroom?
When we moved into the house the bathroom was very outdated, very awkward to use, and difficult keep clean. We wanted something modern, and accessible, for everyday use.
For a temporary change, we replaced the sink for something more modern and stylish. It was quite a cheap sink, so it did end up leaking and causing issues for us. We had to place an empty bowl underneath the sink, to catch leaking water that was coming from the sink trap/internal plumbing.
The shower enclosure was also very outdated and very unwelcoming. It was very awkward for us to use on a daily basis.
What did you want your new bathroom to be like? Did you have any specific needs or requirements?
Initially we had a couple of ideas. Firstly we wanted the bathroom to be open and welcoming to use. Secondly, we wanted a bathroom which would be good enough for reselling or renting.
We wanted to have a bath and a shower still, because as a couple, we each had different wants; one likes to take baths and the other enjoys taking showers. We wanted to maximise and use the space, so a big shower and a big bath were a priority.
Did our designer Kim suggest anything you hadn’t already thought about?
Kim was the best, she was so helpful with designing and planning our new bathroom.
When we started thinking about a new bathroom, we went to places like B&Q and Bath Store. They didn’t seem to get where we were coming from, so we kept going around in circles with them. We would chose items we liked, but they couldn’t help us find alternatives that would fit within our budget!
This is where Kim helped us. She was great with helping us stick within our budget, as well as giving us product options which we loved. Kim listened to us, where as the other companies didn’t.
What is your favorite part of your new bathroom? Do you have any favorite items or parts of the design?
The bath and the shower. Both are slightly combined to save space. Instead of having an enclosed shower space, we now have an open shower enclosure with a simplistic shower screen. This separates the room, instead of cutting everything off. The open shower design also allows for easy cleaning, which is perfect for everyday use.
Were you happy with the installation process?
Very happy! There were no issues with deliveries, and no issues with the products which were delivered. After the main bathroom items were fitted, we realised that we wanted extra tiles and this was sorted out straight away without any fuss.
Overall, were you happy with the whole design, plan and installation process?
Yes! Compared to the other bathroom companies we went to, who didn’t listen to us, Island Bathrooms were great. Island Bathrooms and Kim were so helpful and on point with the design and delivery times. Making this a quick and fuss free process.
Would you use Island Bathrooms again if you were to move and need another bathroom designed?
Yes, definitely! Originally my mum has suggested that we use Island Bathrooms, after having their bathroom created by you. We were glad that we came to you instead of using other big brand companies.
